Public Hearings – Reef Protection Measures

Due to sustained pressure from the LNP Opposition, the Queensland Government has bowed to pressure and will now hold regional consultation on the Environmental Protection (Great Barrier Reef Protection Measures) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill. The deadline for the committee to report to Parliament has also been delayed to allow further consultation.

It is imperative that these hearings are well attended by affected canegrowers and I am asking you to ensure ALL growers are made aware. In order to fight this legislation, we need growers and communities supported by the Sugar Industry to make their voices heard, especially as these hearings will feature “open microphone” sessions.

To register for these hearings, please click here (opens an email window).
